🎃 Kaku tip time. We all forget shortcuts, so I wanted the same muscle memory as VS Code: press Cmd + Shift + P and search for what you need. It opens the Command Palette. Type to search actions and features, with the most useful but easy-to-forget ones pinned near the top. If you forget a shortcut or want to discover a feature, try it. More actions are also available in the Shell menu.

Mole now supports Windows. The first pre-release is here. To keep the Mac version simple and lightweight, the Windows support lives in a separate branch. It includes native PowerShell commands like mo clean, mo optimize, mo uninstall, mo analyze, mo status, and mo purge, with support for cleaning temp files, logs, browser and app caches, developer caches, project artifacts, and more. It also comes with a Windows system dashboard and an interactive UI. It’s still early, so I’d recommend testing it on a non-critical machine first. Feedback, bug reports, and ideas are very welcome. https://t.co/jfnwt1kujq

Kaku will soon show usage for Claude Code, Codex, Kimi, Gemini, GitHub, and Copilot directly in the terminal, with no setup needed. You’ll also be able to switch accounts and change models in one place, which feels much simpler than opening another app and uses far fewer resources. Any other coding CLIs you think I should add next?

https://t.co/TQsXLoZW10

Mole 1.29 is live. The Mac cleaning tool that can free up tens of GBs in one go. https://t.co/rVM1P2nZ1O What’s new: · destructive commands now support --dry-run / -n for full preview before execution · mo status and mo analyze now support --json, with auto JSON mode in non TTY pipelines · smarter cleanup for Xcode DeviceSupport, plus safer sudo handling in Automator and Shortcuts This release makes Mole much better for automation, scripting, and safer cleanup. If Mole helps, I’d love to hear what hidden junk or safe cleanup targets you want next.

MiaoYan now has a CLI. I originally built it because I wanted OpenClaw to read my notes and learn from them, but MiaoYan didn’t expose an easy interface. So I let the 🦞 write one and I reviewed it. The result turned out surprisingly useful and is now merged into the main repo. After a simple curl install you can use the miao command directly for scripting, batch operations, or letting your AI better understand your notes and knowledge. If you use MiaoYan as your Markdown editor, you should definitely try this. https://t.co/b5do1yCLYi

The first version is based on Flexoki, an inky color scheme designed for reading and writing on screens, inspired by analog printing inks and warm paper tones. Codename Yohaku🪽. https://t.co/yKMoU24B9L If you live in the terminal all day, this release is for you. I tried to make the common loop faster: run commands, fix errors, navigate files, review diffs, repeat. Highlights • AI Shell fixes: when a command fails, Kaku sends it to the AI and shows the fix in-terminal. Press Cmd Shift E to apply • Built-in yazi: Cmd Shift Y or type y. First run auto-sets layout and theme. cd Tab falls back to z history when filesystem has no match • Shell line editing like a real editor: Cmd A select all, Shift arrows extend selection, type to replace selection • Command palette: Cmd Shift P to fuzzy search commands, with native text editing • One place for AI configs: kaku ai manages Kaku Assistant, Factory Droid, and opencode.jsonc • Kaku Doctor: run kaku doctor to detect config issues and fix them interactively • Global hotkey: Ctrl Opt Cmd K to show or hide Kaku from any app • Tab bell indicator: background tabs show a blinking dot when something finishes or notifies • Scrolling and input polish: smoother trackpad scrolling in less and man, better fallback scroll mode, improved CJK IME popup positioning • Performance: faster startup via Lua bytecode cache and lazy loading, smaller binary via build optimizations • Shell integration detection fixed: works across environments without relying on TERM being kaku What do you want from a great engineer terminal in 2026. Anything you miss in your current setup, tell me and I will try to build it.

https://t.co/MT4etjjCh0

Saw a very cool tool on GitHub called PortKiller. It’s a powerful cross-platform port management app for developers, with a native UI on macOS, Windows, and Linux. What makes it fun is that it goes beyond just listing ports. It auto-discovers all listening TCP ports, lets you kill processes with one click, supports search and filtering, favorites, watched ports with notifications, and smart categorization for common dev services. It also covers real workflows: managing kubectl port-forward sessions with auto-reconnect, logs, and connect or disconnect notifications, plus visibility into active Cloudflare Tunnel connections. > brew install –cask productdevbook/tap/portkiller.

If you’re a primary maintainer of a public repo with 5K+ stars, or a core contributor to a package with 1M+ monthly npm downloads, and have been active in the last 3 months, you should take a look. If you’ve been actively contributing to larger OSS projects, including Mole, Pake, MiaoYan or others, and meet the criteria, this might be relevant to you. I recently came across a very cool tool called Surge. It’s a blazing-fast, open-source TUI download manager built in Go for power users, with a clean keyboard-driven workflow. What makes it fun is that it doesn’t treat downloads as a single stream. Surge opens multiple connections, splits the file into chunks, and pulls them down in parallel, while also supporting multiple mirrors with automatic failover. It even has a streaming mode if you want sequential downloading for previewing media. It runs as a background engine so you can queue downloads from any terminal tab, and the TUI looks great while staying lightweight and focused. > brew install surge-downloader/tap/surge

I just integrated yazi into Kaku. Yazi is a terminal file manager written in Rust, built on non-blocking async I O. It is fast, smooth, and surprisingly fun to use. In the next Kaku release, yazi will be built in with my tuned config and defaults. I spent a bunch of time polishing the keybindings and the overall feel, and it now fits Kaku really well. If you want it right now, you can install it first, Then run yazi > brew install yazi

Kaku is about to ship a feature that makes command line input feel like a real text editor. https://t.co/yKMoU24B9L Shortcuts • Shift + Left/Right: select by character • Cmd + Shift + Left/Right: expand selection to line start/end • Cmd + A: select the whole current command line • Esc: clear selection and exit selection mode • Backspace/Delete: delete selection first, otherwise keep normal behavior Does your current terminal handle this well? If not, try the next Kaku release.
